Q: How does Botox work?     TOP

A: Botox blocks the signal to the muscles that contract with certain facial

     expressions.

Q: How long does treatment take?     TOP

A: Botox treatment is usually completed in about 30 minutes. Often this can be quicker

if combined with other dental care in the same appointment.

Q: Does it hurt?     TOP

A: You will receive several tiny injections and discomfort is very minimal.

Q: How much Botox will you need to treat my wrinkles?     TOP

A: Botox is measured in units and amount needed depends upon severity of the

A: No. Some patients experience a non-painful sensation similar to skin feeling “dry,”

Q: What possible side-effects should I know about?     TOP

A: Possible side effects: nausea (flu like symptoms), eyelid droop or headache. These

possible side effects are minimized by proper technique.

Q: What are the long-term effects?     TOP

A: After treatment, facial muscle activity is decreased not paralyzed. Muscles are

actually relaxed, and Botox can make you look refreshed, relaxed and less angry.

Properly administered, Botox makes you look healthier. It takes 3-7 days to see initial

effect and about 10-14 days for the full effect. We have all our patients back in two

weeks to be sure they look and feel great. Slight enhancements can be done at that

    time if needed.

Q: Do I need to change my lifestyle?     TOP

A: Maybe temporarily: You should avoid alcohol, exercise and sun exposure for 24

hours after treatment. You should also avoid any "detoxification” treatments for two

     weeks.

Q: How long does Botox treatment last?     TOP

A: Typical Botox treatment lasts about 4 months. For many patients duration may

increase slightly with consistent sequential treatments.

Q: What should I expect?     TOP

A: Treatment with Juvederm or other dermal fillers can smooth wrinkles that are caused

appearance in treated areas. Effects of dermal filler treatment are evident

immediately. Contours are improved as the filler is added; the more subtle lines in

the skin diminish over time as volume is maintained in the tissue. We have all our

patients back in two weeks to be sure they look and feel great. Slight enhancements

can be done at that time if needed.

Q: Do I need to change my lifestyle?     TOP

A: Maybe temporarily: You should avoid exercise, alcohol, other facial dermal

procedures and excessive sun for the first 24-48 hours. You should also avoid any

    “detoxification” treatments for two weeks.
